Fathers Day.

Today we celebrated Anthony. A few years ago we found out that the old train station in our town, that no longer runs but is kept restored by eager volunteers, runs a steam train on fathers day. We went in 2012 and this year I suggested that we go again. Anthony loves anything mechanical and steam engines are a particular favourite. We started the day with us all piling on the bed with a mug of coffee for him and cards. James kept repeating, 'Happy Fathers Day!' Then after a quick morning nap for Emilie, off we went.

Anthony was in his element and it was nice to do something that was just for him. It's easy to get stuck in a routine, especially when you have small children, and to do the same things day in and day out. It was nice to break out of that for one day. (This coming from the woman that breaks a sweat every time our routine is broken!)

Today we thanked Anthony. For how he looks after us. For how he makes us smile. For how he loves us. For how he plays peek-a-boo with Emilie and tucks James in at night. For how he always manages to fix anything that I break. For how he encourages us. When I watch him in the quiet moments with James and Emilie it makes me smile.

Happy fathers day Anthony! We love you loads.
