Emilie - Three Months Old.

Here I am again.. Writing another monthly update for Emilie. I'm going to save the whole "I can't believe how quick it's gone" because I think all parents know how quickly time flies when you have little ones :)

Emilie is in size three nappies. Technically she still fits into size two's but they seem a little too snug and I ran out of them about two weeks ago, had some size three's in my stockpile so just started using them. She is still in 0-3 months clothes although some of them are becoming a bit snug too so I think it's time to wash and prep all the 3-6 month clothes in preparation for the switch over. At her last weight check she was 10lb 14oz and following the 25th percentile.

It's been an interesting month. Emilie's eating is all over the place! I was having problems getting her to take more than 4oz at a time but then a growth spurt hit and for four days she was eating 5oz every three hours. Growth spurt ended and I was having trouble even getting 2oz into her at a time. I started to think that maybe it was the new formula that we were trying.. Turns out my kid is just fussy. I've started warming her bottles up before she eats and doing it this way, I manage to get a little more into her. The past few days she is back to taking 4oz every three hours. I really want her to take more but I can't force it upon her! She is definitely like me in regards to eating.. A snacker...

Up until the end of last week Emilie was still just as sleepy as she has ever been. Sleeping for up to 21 plus hours a day (but heaven forbid I put her down!) I ended up getting so worked up about the fact that she slept like a one week old baby at 12 weeks old, the fact that when she was awake all she did was cry, and that she seemed to have a problem with her eyes (thankfully that is a developmental thing and should resolve itself!) that my Mum ended up offering to pay for us to see a private pediatrician. She ordered some Metabolic testing to check Emilie's chemical levels to make sure it wasn't an imbalance causing her to sleep all the time. Since that appointment though Emilie has started to wake up a bit more.. (I know! I must be the only Mum worrying that her baby sleeps too much!) It varies from day to day but I think that we may be getting there with regards to her day time sleeping.

Emilie is amazing at night time. She has her bedtime bottle, then I will lay her down, sometimes she is already asleep but other times she will still be wide awake. If she's still awake she will send herself off to sleep and most nights that is her untill 3 or 4am... I know that as she gets older and more 'awake' that this will change so I'm going to enjoy it whilst it lasts!

Today I took the kids swimming and it was Emilie's first time. I was hoping that because she loves her baths that she wouldn't freak out on me. She kind of just took it in her stride.. She wasn't all smiles but she wasn't screaming either. Just taking it all in, I guess.

Emilie loves - Her baths, James and I singing "Peter Rabbit Has A Fly Upon His Nose", her Brother, lying on her changing mat with no nappy on, having her bum patted.

Emilie hates - Not being jiggled, getting dressed after a bath, being confined in her pram, when her clothes restrict her, after 4pm in the evening.

Now just for fun.. A comparrison.. One month old and today at three months old.

Happy Three Months Peanut!

James has suddenly decided that he is too cool for Mummy to take his photo anymore.. This morning I was taking some of Emilie and asked if he could come and lie next to her so I could get some of them together. He wasn't at all interested.. I didn't force the issue.. I'll just have to take them when he doesn't realise I'm doing it :)

Miscellany Monday.

For four days now all that has been in the news is a massive hurricane that was heading our way and due to hit land in the early hours of this morning. The whole southern half of England was put on alert, people were panic buying in the shops and it was a hot topic of conversation. When we went to bed last night I told Anthony that it wouldn't even hit our area and turns out I was correct. We've had heavy rain but that's about it. The very south of England took a battering with 99 miles an hour winds and flooding though. I'm glad that it didn't hit us. Being home alone with the kids in a hurricane is not my idea of a good Monday.

It seems for the past month that this cold/flu thing has been in our house. Starting a month ago with James and his cold that turned into tonsillitis, then I developed a cold last week which has turned into a chesty cough and yesterday Anthony came down with it. Emilie was up a lot last night coughing and very chesty so I think she may be getting it too.. James is sniffly again this morning too.. Oh the joys of this season..

James is on half term from school this week.. I think he's ready for the break after his first 6 weeks at school. He's tired and in need of the break. Off course I'm not too sad about the fact that I don't have to rush around in the mornings for a week :)

I have some updates of Emilie and her doctors appointment last Saturday but I think I'll save that for her three month update on Wednesday.. Can you believe she is nearly three months old!

Five On Friday!

This is my first time linking up for the Five On Friday but I see a lot of my bloggy friends doing it regularly and it looks like fun.. So here goes..

1 - After being looked down on by doctors for the past 12 weeks regarding all of Emilie's ongoing problems, tomorrow we are going to see a private pediatrician. I cannot wait and I hope she listens and takes us seriously..

2 - We got James' school photograph on Wednesday, which is now proudly displayed in my living room.. I cannot believe that we are now at the school photo stage.. My baby is officially growing up.

{Photo was taken off my mobile so ignore the quality !}

3 - This Sunday we have a family meal at my Sisters house.. It should be fun having all the kids together, even if the adults always end up in some kind of a debate :)

4 - A few weeks back I decided to give contact lenses a try after wearing glasses for 17 years. I have one week left on the trial and already I love them! Although last night I fell asleep in them so this morning was an experience, I do not suggest trying to prise lenses from your eyeballs. It hurts.

5 - Emilie is currently napping and James is still at school so I am enjoying this peace and quiet.. It doesn't happen very often in this house so I plan to make the most of it!

Happy Weekend!

One Day.

I seem to start every post now with an explanation of why I haven't posted in so long.. I keep meaning to sit down and write and I won't even tell you how many posts I have started and saved in drafts but I think that Emilie has a radar on me and as soon as I go to do anything for myself, it must go off.. That girl is perceptive.

It's 6am and she has just gone back to sleep after a feed so James and I have snuck downstairs for tea and biscuits.. It's Sunday and a treat so I'll let the biscuits in the morning thing slide..

Life is crazy busy.. James is now at school full time and loving it. He has made so many friends and yesterday went to his first birthday party. He was there five minutes before he bumped heads with another boy and now has a shiner of a black eye. It seems like he has grown up overnight and most mornings I am wondering where my little boy went..

I think we've finally figured out the main problem with Emilie.. After trying milk free formula, colic drops and a mountain of other things, it's looking like it's Silent Reflux. We've now got her on a formula for Reflux along with medication and "fingers crossed" it seems to be helping. She is very temperamental, will cry at the slightest thing and scream for hours at a time but she is better than she was. I'll take it after 11 weeks of constant screaming.

On that note, I can't believe that on Tuesday she will be 12 weeks old! We are nowhere near in a routine but because she has been so unsettled since she was born and is still not 100% I don't think we will be anytime soon. I cannot wait until we are though! I like routine and structure so this has been a massive learning curve for me.. I just need to remember that this won't last forever. One day she will be a happy, smiling, contented baby.. One day my house will be clean and my laundry basket won't be over flowing.. One day!
