Miscellany Monday.

lowercase letters

1 - I currently have a  love-hate relationship with the heatwave that we're experiencing. Love because well who doesn't love the gorgeous sunshine, bright blue skies and being able to have every window in the house open? Hate because poor James is suffering in the heat with his current medical situation. I don't like that I have to play the bad person and limit his time in the sunshine. All he wants to do is play outside from when the birds start singing to when the sun goes down but that can't happen and it's me that has to tell him that. Thank god that our patio is mostly shaded during the day. It means that I spend most of my time saying "James, back on the patio..." but at least he is outside.

2 - The times when he is allowed outside the smile on his face is worth all those times I have to tell him no..

3. The bright side to James finishing Nursery two weeks early for the summer? It now feels like I am on a kind of maternity leave! No more leaving the house by 8am, no more rushing in the morning, no more walking four miles a day in the sweltering heat. I was starting to struggle with all that walking and the contractions that I have been having here and there so this feels great. Another bonus is that I get to spend the next few weeks before Emilie arrives with James. He's expressed some concern about the arrival of his little sister. He seems to think that Anthony and I can only love one child and he's told me that he thinks that we won't love him when we have a new baby in the house. I've tried explaining to him that Mummy's & Daddy's can love lots of children and there isn't a limit to it and that no matter how much I love Emilie, I will always love him. I think it is one of those things that he won't understand until she is here and he can see for himself.

Originally we wanted our two children close in age but now I'm glad that there will be a four and a half year age gap between them. James understands more and although he has some reservations, he is also very excited about becoming a big brother. He comes to all my medical appointments now and my midwife lets him find Emilie's heartbeat with the doppler which he thinks is the best thing in the world.

I cannot wait to see my two children together!

Happy Monday!
