Quick & Easy Desert.

It's not often I share receipes on here. I'm not a great one to talk about food and healthy eating with all my problems but since I've been working with my dietician I am trying to get more excited about food and try new things.

Yesterday my Nan gave me some apples from her garden. I had no idea what to do with them and then figured that I've never made a Crumble so now would be the perfect time. For my first attempt it came out awesome plus it was so simple to make..

So I figured I would share it here. If you try it I'd love to hear how it turned out. Also I adapted the receipe so that it was Gluten free so James could eat it.

You will need..

Apples
10oz of flour
6oz of brown sugar
7oz of butter (room temperature)
Pinch of Salt

Firslty peel and slice the apples. It depends on how much filling you want as to how many apples you use. Anthony likes a thick layer of crumble and less filling so it's all down to personal taste..

Add the slice to a saucepan and add a sprinkle of  brown sugar, this will help take the bitter taste away from the cooking apples. Add water until it just covers the apples and boil until they are soft but not too mushy.

Whilst the apples are boiling add the plain flour (I used Gluten Free flour), brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Mix well together.

Then slowly add small amounts of the butter a bit at a time whilst mixing with your fingers until it resembles breadcrumbs.

When the apples are soft, drain any excess water. I mashed them a little but I wanted some chunks of apples left so I didn't do it too much :)

Next grease the edges of an oven dish with butter, add the filling, and then the crumble mixture to the top..

Cook at 180 degrees for roughly 45 minutes and voila! A tasty desert. About 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time I added a sprinkle of brown sugar to the top and popped it back into the oven..

It was deemed a success by all :)

Tonight I am trying a Cheesy Brocolli Bake so I may be posting that tomorrow. Enjoy!
